The investigation into the alleged misconduct of Joost Klein during the Eurovision Song Contest has been officially closed due to insufficient evidence. The Swedish public prosecutor announced the decision in a statement regarding the incident involving a camerawoman.
According to the investigation, Klein "made a movement that caused the woman's camera to be hit." The incident occurred in a brief moment and was interpreted differently by various eyewitnesses. The camerawoman filed a report, which led to the disqualification of the Dutch entry on the day of the Eurovision final.
The case has now been closed as the prosecutor stated that they "cannot prove that the movement was intended to cause significant fear or that this was Klein's intention."
Joost Klein's management expressed that the past few months have been extremely difficult. "Although we love performing around the world, it hasn’t felt entirely right. We are incredibly happy and relieved as a team that this uncertain period has finally come to an end. We can now say it out loud: there was never any basis for this case."
