Helmond, Netherlands – On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, around 10:39 AM, the police received an urgent call from Helmond Central Station. A heavily pregnant woman reported that her 2-year-old son was left on a departing train.
The Incident
The pregnant mother had stepped off the train at Helmond station, but the doors closed before she could get her son off, leaving him alone on the train.
Quick Response
The police quickly contacted Dutch Railways (NS). Soon after, a conductor found the boy with two kind women who were looking after him. The next stop for the train was Blerick.
Coordinated Effort
Police officers in Limburg were sent to Blerick station to take the boy. They arranged to meet halfway between Blerick and Helmond, so the local police could bring the boy back to his mother.
A Happy Reunion
Although the boy was very upset at first, the police managed to cheer him up during the ride. "The boy was naturally very sad, but fortunately, during the ride, we were able to bring out a smiling and happy face," the police shared on Facebook. Mother and child were joyfully reunited at Helmond station, with the boy recovering from his little adventure. All’s well that ends well.
