The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has updated its travel advisory for Israel to code red, effective Monday. This change reflects the growing tensions in the Middle East, with the ministry citing a significant threat of an Iranian attack on Israel.
A code red advisory indicates a strong recommendation against all travel to the region. The ministry emphasized to the ANP, "Regardless of your situation: do not travel there. It is too dangerous. The Dutch embassy cannot assist you if you encounter problems."
Dutch Nationals Urged to Leave
Dutch nationals currently in Israel are encouraged to leave if it is safe to do so. The Dutch government will not be organizing repatriation efforts. It is unclear how many Dutch citizens are in Israel, as there is no mandatory travel registration.
Previously, parts of Israel were under an orange advisory, with certain areas, such as the borders with Gaza and Lebanon and the Golan Heights, already marked red. Popular tourist destinations like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem were under an orange advisory until now.
